Speaking on the sidelines of China’s National People’s Congress Wednesday, China Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that the country was exploring ways to invite additional developing countries to join the BRICS community. The association, which is now comprised of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, will hold their annual summit in China this September. Some analysts are concerned that any efforts by China to invite allies into the BRICS bloc, would distract from development issues facing existing members, and would risk transforming the association into a political platform for China, reported the India Times.
