Fortune reported Wednesday that Chinese ride-hailing company Didi Chuxing has announced a research and development center to be established in rival Uber’s stomping grounds, Silicon Valley. The announcement follows investments and partnerships in India, Southeast Asia, Brazil, and the US, which include a strategic partnership with Lyft. The company has already attracted some talent away from their US competition with the hiring of a senior engineer of Uber’s autonomous driving division to work at Didi Labs.
