Japan Innovation Party founder Toru Hashimoto told an audience at the Washington DC-based Center for Strategic and International Studies that Trump’s call “should be a trigger for us” to examine “our own thoughts of security.”

The Innovation Party is considered populist, and Mr. Hashimoto remarked that he “can relate to Mr Trump,” highlighting the shock Trump’s victory gave to the political establishment.
