Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif began a three-day trip to Hong Kong on Tuesday with local police on a higher state of alert than during recent visits by his Philippine and Indonesian counterparts.

Sharif is to meet the city’s chief executive Leung Chun-ying on Wednesday at Government House, attend a Belt and Road forum at Island Shangri-La Hotel, and leave Hong Kong on Thursday noon, Ta Kung Pao reported.

Three local Pakistani organizations planned demonstrations in Tsim Sha Tsui on Tuesday and Wednesday against the visit, Oriental Daily reported.
