The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) announced this week that foreign direct investment from South Korean companies into Vietnam has exceeded US$50 billion as of last year.

The number tops the list of countries investing in Vietnam and equals more than 17% of total FDI in the country, followed by Japan at US$42.43 billion and Singapore at US$39.25. According to KOTRA, Korean investment accounted for more than 30% of FDI flowing to the country in 2016.
