Police arrested two foreigners – reportedly runaway migrant workers – along with their baby in a village of Yunlin County, western Taiwan, early on Wednesday morning.

After a tipoff from local citizens, police from Huwei precinct in Yunlin County intercepted a man and a woman, whose nationalities were not revealed, in Kecuo village at 5am on Wednesday, the Taiwan Times reported.

The couple admitted to police that they had been factory workers but had run away from their former employer. They have recently been living in the village but struggling to make ends meet.

After learning that their baby was starving, officers immediately bought two cans of infant formula and some nappies while on the way to the National Immigration Agency.
