Twenty passengers were trapped for 10 minutes on a ride at Hong Kong Disneyland on Sunday – the third such incident in three months at the same facility.

The Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars roller coaster suddenly stopped on inclines on the track at 3pm, Apple Daily reported.

A witness surnamed Ma told media that he was lining up for the ride when the carts suddenly stopped. He saw about 20 passengers were stuck for 10 minutes before staff at the park assisted them to get out and walk to the ground.

A spokesperson of the theme park confirmed the incident and said it was due to the safety system being activated. They reopened the ride at 5:30pm on the same day after an investigation.

It was the third time in recent months that passengers have been trapped at Hong Kong Disneyland.

On July 9, 72 passengers were trapped for 50 minutes, while on July 12 another 48 riders were stuck for 30 minutes at the same facility.
