A 2-meter-long python was spotted in Victoria Park on Hong Kong Island on Friday morning. At 8:44am, a man saw the snake in the brush behind a kiosk in the park in Causeway Bay, Oriental Daily reported.

The Burmese python was only sunbathing, but its presence frightened many people doing morning exercises in the park.

Police arrived along with an expert snake catcher, who put the python into a bag and took it away.

The Burmese python is the only protected snake in Hong Kong, information on Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department’s website showed.
