A 59-year-old taxi driver was found dead in the waters under Ting Kau Bridge in Hong Kong’s New Territories on Friday.

HKo1.com reports that, at 4am, a bridge worker saw that a taxi had stopped in the middle of the bridge, in the direction of Tuen Mun, but that the driver was nowhere to be seen.

Police and firemen were called and later found a man in the sea waters under the bridge. He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police officers found a suicide note and a taxi rental agreement inside the taxi.

Oriental Daily, citing police, said the driver, surnamed Lo, lived in Sheung Shui, in the New Territories, and had incurred debts of around HK$200,000 (US$25,632) that he was unable to clear.
