A former Filipino migrant worker landed a new job, won a house and a plot of land at a job fair in Cordillera after being unemployed for five months.

Joyce Mae Ridual, 25, had previously worked as nurse in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for two years. After finishing her contract, she returned to the Philippines and was unemployed for five months, ABS-CBN News reported.

On Tuesday, Ridual went with her mother to the Cordillera Department of Labor and Employment Labor Day Job Fair and applied for a job. She was hired by a company offering overseas employment for registered nurses.

The company told Ridual she was qualified for the job as she had two years of experience working in Saudi Arabia. Ridual also won a house and lot in a lucky draw held at the end of the job fair. She said she was not aware there was a lucky draw and was surprised she won.

A total of 3,824 job seekers attended the job fair, where 544 were hired on the spot.
