A 46-year-old Indonesian woman was jailed for 16 months by a Singapore court on Wednesday after pleading guilty to stealing from her former and present employers.

The offenses occurred while the woman worked as a domestic helper for two families.

The woman pleaded guilty to four of eight charges of theft while she was a servant, Lianhe Zaobao (Singapore) reported.

The court heard that the current female employer of the accused found two pairs of her Cartier earrings missing and replaced by fake ones on the morning of February 28, 2018.

The maid admitted to police that she committed the theft while the couple who employed her were not home. She sold the two pairs to a pawnshop, where she received S$800 (US$600) and S$500 (US$375) respectively.

The accused also admitted that she also stole a gold bracelet from her employer and sold it for S$1,700 (US$1,275) at the pawnshop. The item was reportedly a gift to her employer from a deceased grandmother.

Prior to stealing from her current employer, the defendant also pleaded guilty to stealing cash, handbags and valuables totaling about S$2,677 (US$2,007) from her former boss.

None of the stolen items were recovered.
