A 45-year-old Indian man has pleaded not guilty to sexually harassing a Filipino woman in public in Dubai. At 1:40pm on March 4, the alleged victim, 44, a training manager, was walking with a friend in Al Karama, a shopping district. As they came out of a typing center, the man passed in front of them, Khaleej Times reported.

The Filipino woman claimed that while she was talking with her friend, the man stretched out his hand and groped her. She immediately called the police and the man was arrested.

The man was accused of groping the woman in public. On Thursday at the Dubai Court of First Instance, he pleaded not guilty to the charge of sexual harassment.

The Filipino woman filed a civil lawsuit against the man and is seeking compensation of 21,000 dirhams (US$5,720), Gulf News reported.

The criminal trial will continue on May 17.
