A Singaporean man was charged with committing a rash act after he jumped on top of a private-hire car. At 3am on Saturday, Chee Chu Siong, 26, was arrested after he was accusing of having jumped on to the front of a Grab car that was being driven by a 72-year-old man and then continuing on to the vehicle’s roof, The Straits Times reported.
The incident occurred outside St James Power Station at 3 Sentosa Gateway. According to the driver’s son, Alex Koh, 42, his father was on his way to pick up a passenger when Chee suddenly jumped on to the hood of the car.
Koh uploaded a dashcam video of the incident on his Facebook page.
According to Mothership, the driver said the total cost of repairs for his car was S$14,967.48 (US$11,144). Koh said a friend claiming to be Chee’s friend apologized on his behalf.
On Monday, Chee was charged with committing a rash act endangering the personal safety of others. The court offered Chee bail of S$5,000 and the trial will continue on May 24.
If convicted, Chee could be jailed for a maximum of six months and fined S$2,500.
