The son of a Filipino domestic worker has asked the Philippine government to rescue his mother, who has allegedly been abused by her employer in Saudi Arabia.

The domestic worker named Yolanda Aniban Visitacion, 59, went to Riyadh in 2008 to work as a seamstress. According to her son Roland, he has not heard from his mother since 2012, the SunStar reported.

On May 12, a video of Visitacion was uploaded to Facebook by a friend. In the video, Visitacion was pleading for help as her female employer was abusing her, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.

Visitacion said she has been working for her employer for six to seven years and her employer often hit and kicked her. She also said her vision had become poor and she had gone blind in one eye and her vision was blurred in the other.

Visitacion’s son saw the video online and went to different agencies asking for help to rescue his mother.

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration said they had received a report on Visitacion’s situation, but could not make any comment as the process of bringing a domestic worker home was a long one.
