The Labour Department has revoked the license of another employment agency for failing to meet standards set out in its Code of Practice and for not rectifying irregularities despite repeated warnings.
The employment agency was named as Galaxy Maid Employment Consultants Limited, with offices in Central and Causeway Bay on Hong Kong Island, according to a government release.
This was the fifth case this year that resulted in the revocation of or refusal to renew an employment agency licence.
According to the government statement, the agency failed to include all required items in the service agreements for foreign domestic workers and their employers, and failed to keep written confirmation from domestic workers and their employers that they had been briefed about their statutory rights and obligations as well as the content of the Standard Employment Contract.
The agency also failed to maintain sufficient records relating to dealings with employers.
A spokesman from the Labour Department said the Employment Agency Administration (EAA) conducts both regular and unscheduled agency inspections, which can result in warnings issued to agencies which contravene the Code, requesting that they rectify any irregularities detected.
In recent months, Familia Employment Agency, an agency located in Tai Po, the New Territories, had its licence revoked after the licensee was convicted of overcharging three job seekers. Two other employment agencies, namely Tin Wai Employment Company Limited and Good Family Employment Agency Company Limited, also had their licences revoked.
In addition, JK Company had its licence renewal refused because it failed to draw up service agreements between foreign domestic workers and their employers.
