A 60-year-old Filipino was found dead a day after she reportedly complained about the heat after work. However, Hong Kong resident Marissa Danao, who was divorced and had one child, had a thyroid problem which could have triggered her death, officials at the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong said.

They added that the cause of death will be determined after an autopsy, sunwebhk.com reported. Danao went home from work on July 27 and complained about the hot weather. She went to bed and was found dead the next day.

A funeral service was held on August 5 and her remains are scheduled to be repatriated to the Philippines on Thursday.

Danao was the third Filipina to die recently, with the two other domestic helpers being found lifeless in the toilets of their respective employers’ flats. Autopsies had been done to determine the cause of their deaths, but the results had not yet been released.

However, police have been unable to confirm if the deaths were weather-related. The Hong Kong Observatory has issued a Very Hot Weather warning almost daily for the past two months.
