A total of 14 foreign women and three local men were arrested by Malaysian police on Thursday for allegedly running a brothel using a hotel spa business as a front in Seri Kembangan, south of Kuala Lumpur.
Following a tip-off, Serdang police raided the hotel at about 2:15am on August 9, where a suspected prostitution syndicate consisting of 14 women and three men was believed to have been operating, the China Press reported.
Various items including a bottle of massage oil, 18 condom packets and 328 ringgit (US$80) in cash were seized during the raid.
A preliminary investigation showed that the women arrested – four Indonesians, four Thais and six Vietnamese, aged in their 20s and 30s – were offering sex to customers priced at between 200 and 500 ringgit (US$49-123).
The three local men served as caretakers at the premise. All the suspects were remanded for further questioning under Section 55B of the Immigration Act 1959/1963.
