A 29-year-old unemployed Bangladeshi migrant was sentenced to eight months in jail and three strokes of the cane on Wednesday after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a 29-year-old Filipina at the Bayfront in Singapore in May this year.
Hosan Daluar attracted the attention of security guards when he was seen sitting very close to female customers at the tables but not playing any games inside the Marina Bay Sands casino on May 26, Lianhe Wanbao (Singapore) reported.
A senior security manager and his colleague saw Daluar and decided to tail him as he wandered around the bay-front during the early hours of May 27. At 3:10am, Daluar walked towards a couple – a Filipino woman who worked and as a maid and her 32-year-old Bangladeshi boyfriend who were sleeping on a bench in an outdoor area – sat beside them.
The court was told the woman woke as she felt a hand go into her shorts and touch her private parts. She was puzzled as her boyfriend was fast asleep with both his arms around her body. Daluar was the only person near them.
When she raised the alarm, Daluar tried to flee but was stopped by the security manager and his colleague and then arrested by police.
