A Korean woman messaged a friend from her bathroom to call police after she was bitten on the body, choked and sexually abused by her boyfriend while they were holidaying in New York, a court was told.

Filipino Terence Tang, 37, a company chief executive officer, was found guilty of abuse in Manhattan Supreme Court and will be sentenced on August 22. He could be jailed for up to seven years.

Tang and his 25-year-old girlfriend of three months went out for drinks on October 26 last year and returned to their Airbnb unit, New York Post reported. The girlfriend testified through an interpreter that Tang sank his teeth into one arm, her hip and an inner thigh.

When she asked him to stop, Tang pinned her down, put his fingers inside her and choked her. The woman managed to break free and fled to the bathroom, where she messaged “Save me!” to a friend, who then contacted the police.

“I thought I was going to die,” the girlfriend said in court.

Defense lawyer Todd Spodek said Tang had fantasized about biting her in WhatsApp messages, and his foreplay simply got out of hand.

“His intent was to fool around with his girlfriend, just like they did every other night in the same fashion — in a fashion that you might not like, but that’s their business,” Spodek added.

It took the court only one day to reach a guilty verdict against Tang.
