A 42-year-old Filipino man committed suicide in an apartment in Kowloon’s Mong Kok on Sunday. The man was found hanging in his apartment by his girlfriend and police did not suspect foul play.

At 7am, the man’s a 27-year-old Filipina girlfriend, who holds a Hong Kong identity card, returned to the apartment on 913 Canton Road in Mong Kok where she found her boyfriend had hung himself in the kitchen using dog leashes, the Oriental Daily reported.

The woman untied the leashes and called police. Police and paramedics arrived and sent the man to Kwong Wah Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police officers could not find a suicide note and after an initial investigation ruled out foul play. It was understood the man had work and relationship problems and police will investigate the cause of his death.
