Hong Kong police arrested 10 people in a raid on an illegal casino in a Yau Ma Tei apartment in Kowloon on Monday, which lured gamblers with electronic gaming machines.

A 41-year-old Hong Kong woman was arrested for operating the illegal casino in an apartment at 151 Temple Street in Yau Ma Tei, the Oriental Daily reported.

Three Filipinas and two Indian men aged between 29 and 48, who held temporary stay permits, and four other people – a local man and two local women aged between 19 and 49 and a 37-year-old mainland Chinese man with a two-way stay permit – were arrested for illegally gambling inside the apartment.

Police seized one electronic fishing machine, one electronic insect-machine, two electronic shooting machines and HK$1,8000 (US$229) in cash. Those arrested were all detained for further investigation.

Gambling is illegal in Hong Kong, except at Jockey Club branches. Casino games are only available in Macau.
