Two Bangladeshi citizens and an Indonesian man denied all charges involving the trafficking of an Indonesian woman at the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.

Md Mohasin, 32, and Lima Begun, 30, from Bangladesh along with 23-year-old Indonesian Bayu Prakasa Nasution pleaded not guilty to the trafficking charges, the Malay Mail reported.

Between September 25 to 27, the three defendants allegedly took part in activities of trafficking and sexual exploitation of the victim at the Shuttle Inn Hotel in the Malaysian capital’s Dang Wangi district.

Deputy public prosecutor Najwa Bistamam requested that applications for bail be rejected on the grounds that MD Mohasin had no valid travel documentation and that the other two accused held tourist visas when they entered Malaysia.

Judge Azman Ahmad denied bail for the three and set October 19 as the date for the next session of the trial.

Under Section 12 of Malaysia’s Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007, convicted offenders are liable to imprisonment for up to 15 years.
