Two drug busts were made on Saturday by the Vietnamese Border Guard in Quang Tri province, both involving methamphetamine.

Nguyen Huu Dong, 39, was arrested by a border patrol at the Lao Bao international border gate carrying 748 methamphetamine pills, Xinhua reported.

That night, Dao Day Khanh, 34, was also caught smuggling 1,680 methamphetamine pills, which were hidden in his motorbike.

In Vietnam, those found guilty of smuggling more than 600 grams of heroin or of trafficking more than 2.5 kilograms of methamphetamine can be given the death penalty.
