A South Asian man was arrested on Thursday after punching a police officer who was trying to stop a dispute between the man and a local couple on a railway station in Hong Kong.
At 8pm, a 27-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman had a dispute with the 20-year-old South Asian man in the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station, Oriental Daily reported.
The couple said they were slapped and had their heads hit by the South Asian man without reason. Two police tactical unit officers who were patrolling in the station approached the group and tryied to stop the dispute.
However, the South Asian man punched one of the officers in the face. The other officer immediately called for back-up and they subdued the man.
A folded knife about 20 centimeters long was found in the man’s pocket. He was arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer, possession of an offensive weapon and common assault.
The man could not provide any identification documents.
