A woman identified as a Vietnamese citizen was found dead inside an apartment in Osaka, Japan. According to the Osaka Prefectural Police, she was found lying on the floor by a resident at around 10:30pm on Monday, The Mainichi reported.
The woman, who had a wound on her neck, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Vietnamese man was also found unconscious next to her with cuts to his neck as well. He was taken to a hospital, where his condition has been reported as stable.
The police said the deceased was apparently one of three female Vietnamese residents of the apartment building near the Kami Station of the JR Kansai Line. The suspected weapon was a cooking knife that was found with blood on it.
The surviving man will be questioned when he makes a full recovery.
In Japan, murder is punishable by death by hanging. However, the death penalty is rarely used.
