A Taiwanese company head was given a suspended sentence by the Taichung District Court after pleading guilty to molesting and raping his Indonesian employee on different occasions two years ago.

The court heard that the man hired the woman after a referral by an employment agency between April and October in 2017, the United Daily News reported.

Fearing being sent back to Indonesian by her employer, the woman tried to evade the man’s abuses by saying no or running away. However, she was molested by the man on three occasions.

The last assault came to light in October 2017 when the woman sought help from a colleague after she was reportedly raped by the man.

She also filed her case with the authorities via the 1955 Counseling and Protection Hotline for Foreign Workers.

The district judge slammed the man for satisfying his own desires with unwanted physical advances and abusing his power and position as the company owner.

In consideration of the man taking an early plea of guilty and paying the victim an agreed sum in compensation, he was given a four-year suspended sentence of one-year imprisonment. He was made to attend a rehabilitation class.
