Police have issued an arrest warrant for a Filipino priest who is accused of theft and molesting teenagers after a new alleged victim came forward.

Reverend Edmundo Paredes, who is now 70, was a pastor at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Oak Cliff in Dallas, Texas in the United States for 27 years.

He was investigated for stealing US$60,000 to $80,000 from the church, but during the investigation, it was discovered that Paredes sexually assaulted three teenage boys over 10 years ago, Dallas News reported.

Tamika Dameron, a Dallas police spokeswoman, said the three victims did not want to pursue criminal charges against Paredes but the announcement prompted another victim to come forward.

The alleged fourth victim contacted the Dallas Police Child Exploitation Unit and a criminal investigation was conducted. That led to an arrest warrant issued for Paredes for sexually assaulting a child.

Paredes is believed to have fled Texas after sexual assault allegations were made public in August.

Bishop Edward Burns confirmed the allegations were true and said that Paredes could be hiding in the Philippines.

The Catholic Diocese of Dallas has contacted authorities in the Philippines to help track down Paredes.
