A Filipino couple was among the 10 killed in a fire in an apartment building in Paris on Tuesday night. According to Paris prosecutor Rémy Heitz, a woman who lived in the building was taken into custody after being suspected of starting the fire.

Heitz said the 40-year-old woman had a history of psychological problems, The Local reported. Police said the woman was intoxicated when she was detained and attempted to set fire to a car. She had already been in trouble with police, but was never convicted.

Ten people were killed, including two Filipinos, while at least 37 others suffered injuries. The fire started at about 1 am on Tuesday on the Rue Erlanger at the 16th Arrondissement of Paris.

In a statement, the Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed that a Filipino couple was killed in the fire, while four other Filipinos staying in the building survived. According to ambassador to France Ma Theresa Lazaro, the couple’s daughter sought help from the Philippine embassy after she reported her parents were missing in the fire.
