Officers from the Narcotics Bureau raided an illegal manufacturing center in Kowloon and arrested five people, including a 15-year-old girl, on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off and after a thorough investigation, officers raided a residential apartment at I-Feng Mansion on To Kwa Wan Road at 5 pm and confiscated 10 liters of a substance suspected of being liquid methamphetamine, Sing Pao reported.

Five people aged between 15 to 64 were arrested, a 55-year-old Hong Kong man and his 15-year-old daughter, a man from Mexico, a woman from mainland China and a Filipina. It was understood the Hong Kong man owned the apartment and the mainland Chinese woman was his relative, news website HK01.com reported.

Officers confiscated 10 liters of a substance suspected to be liquid methamphetamine and equipment to manufacture drugs including two plastic barrels containing raw materials. The haul was valued at HK$2.74 million (US$349,062).

Officers believe the Mexican was responsible for processing the liquid methamphetamine into the solid form of the drug. They also believe the finished product was for local markets.
