The Philippine government is seeking help to find the family of a Filipino migrant worker sent back from China who suffers from amnesia.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said that Richard Soriano Reyes was repatriated on March 29 from China. The DFA said that Reyes suffered a stroke and brain hemorrhage two years ago and lost his memory after undergoing surgery and examinations, GMA News reported.

The National Bureau of Investigation confirmed Reyes’ identity through his fingerprints but it has no other information in regard to his family. The DFA said there were no records available for Reyes in their e-passport database and that the man’s passport could not be read by a machine.

The DFA’s Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs said it tried contacting Reyes’ next of kin based on his old records in the department but had no success finding any relatives.

Reyes recalled that he worked as a DJ in China for a long time and that he lived somewhere in Marikina City in Barangay Concepcion Uno. However, Reyes’ name is not listed in Barangay Concepcion Uno’s database of residents.

The DFA has appealed to Filipinos to provide any information they may have on Reyes to the Las Piñas General Hospital, where he is currently staying.
