Yuan Renguo, ex-chairman of Chinese liquor producer Kweichow Moutai, was expelled from the Communist Party of China and removed from all posts for severe violations of law and party disciplines, according to a statement by China’s top anti-graft agency.

The move came after Yuan was relieved from his post as a standing committee member of the Guizhou Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference in early May.

Yuan “severely violated political discipline and political rules, and used dealership qualification of the Moutai liquor as tools of string pulling and exchange of interests,” it said, adding that he has also took an “extremely large” amount of bribes and ran an illegal for-profit businesses.

Yuan was also charged with exchanging money and power for sex, and creating “family-style corruption,” referring to his close-knit relatives in key positions, who were involved in the alleged misconduct.

Yuan also colluded with others to obtain fake confessions to “combat” the party’s inspection, the statement said.
