Will Bond 25 feature Prince Charles in a cameo role? Handout.

Prince Charles sips a glass of Jamaican rum, in a quite hotel room, a fan turning slowly overhead.

He sits by the door in the shadows, waiting for the intruder to appear, shuffling a deck of cards.

The intruder darts in menacingly, promptly pumping six bullets into the bed where a stuff of pillows is carefully placed.

“That’s a Smith and Wesson, and you’ve had your six,” Charles says dryly, before dispatching yet another Bond villain.

OK, maybe that’s a bit of a stretch, but …  Britain’s heir to the throne has been offered a special cameo role in the upcoming  James Bond film, according to UK media sources.

Charles, 70, would not be the first member of his royal family to appear alongside 007 — his mum, Queen Elizabeth II, starred in a short homage for the opening ceremony of London’s 2012 Olympic Games.

Prince Charles could be backing up James Bond in his next thrilling adventure, sources say. Wire photo.

“They loved the buzz around the Queen’s appearance alongside Daniel Craig and think Charles could top even that,” a source told the UK paper of the scene, where the Queen was made to look like she parachuted from a chopper.

“He is the epitome of everything British, perfect for a cameo role and Bond fans worldwide would absolutely love it.”

The possible cameo in Bond 25 was reportedly brought up when the prince recently visited the film set, posing for photos with Bond actor Craig, 51. To everyone’s delight, the two apparently hit it off, leading to a chance at cinematic fame.

“Now he is considering it,” the source said.

And, should he turn it down, there are replacements. Namely Charles’ sons, Princes Harry and William, the source said. Both of which have military experience, and, could accept challenging roles.

The so-far untitled Bond 25 has been stricken by problems, including planned-director Danny Boyle quitting, an explosion on the film set that injured one worker and Craig needing surgery for an ankle injury.

The prince even joked about the film’s woes when he visited the set, according to onlookers, asking, “You haven’t had any more things blowing up recently?”

Meanwhile, as filming on Bond 25 continues, there’s the matter of the traditional theme song — the series has a treasure trove of themes that have delighted 007 fans for decades.

In recent years Adele (a stunning rendition of Skyfall) and Sam Smith (a rather disappointing Writing’s On The Wall)  have belted out songs, but just who will be chosen for the new film? Well allegedly, Ed Sheeran is in the running because Daniel Craig’s daughter is a huge fan.

However, some say  producer Barbara Broccoli is also considering others … even Sting. Stay tuned.
