The International Import forum caught delegates off guard with a multi-million-dollar collection of wealth
Shanghai has always had glitz. But sometimes it is sprinkled in the most unusual of venues.
This week, the glitter dust descended on the China International Import Expo inside the National Exhibition and Convention Center.
As delegates arrived for Shanghai’s showpiece business event, they were greeted by the trappings of wealth.
The exhibition included a pair of pink high-heeled shoes encrusted with 10,000 pink diamonds and worth US$4.28 million.
A guitar covered in 400 carats of diamonds and worth $2 million also attracted more than a few glances.
But, perhaps, the weirdest item on show was a gold toilet emblazoned with more than 40,000 diamonds. Of course, it was only for collectors flush with money.
